More resources are now available to help communities better prepare for emergencies and keep people safer from the risks associated with natural hazards and a changing climate.

On Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025, at 10:16 a.m., people throughout B.C. will join the Great British Columbia ShakeOut earthquake drill to practice how to drop, cover and hold on.

As the B.C. Day long weekend approaches, people are encouraged to stay informed about wildfire conditions, be prepared and plan travel.

To improve public safety in the event of an emergency, a test of the B.C. Emergency Alert system will occur at 1:55 p.m. (Pacific time) on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, as part of Emergency Preparedness Week.

People in British Columbia are being encouraged to protect themselves and those around them against influenza this year by getting a flu shot.

To help keep communities safe and protect British Columbia’s health-care system from COVID-19, the Province has authorized site-specific road checks on travel corridors between regions to help enforce the non-essential travel restrictions that were announced on April 23, 2021.
