Christine Boyle, Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, and Jennifer Blatherwick, parliamentary secretary for gender equity, have released the following statement in honour of Red Dress Day and the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQIA+ People.

The Province of British Columbia has declared Friday, May 2, 2025, an official day of remembrance and mourning for the victims of the tragedy at the Lapu Lapu Day Festival in Vancouver on April 26, 2025.  

The Province is providing an update on short-term rental registration (STR) numbers and deadlines ahead of the one-year anniversary of new restrictions to crack down on illegal listings and open up more long-term homes for people.

Community-based organizations throughout B.C. have received grants from the Province to fund projects countering racism and promoting multiculturalism.

The Province is updating the BC Provincial Nominee Program to do what it can to best meet its workforce priorities, and provide as much fairness and clarity as possible, following the federal government’s decision to reduce the nomination allocation spots.

Landlords and renters will benefit from new measures that enhance supports, while disputes continue to be resolved quickly and fairly.
