The Lieutenant-Governor-in-Council has appointed Frank Leonard as new chair of the Agricultural Land Commission (ALC).

The B.C. government has formalized a June 2014 announcement by amending the Agricultural Land Reserve Regulation to specifically identify federally licensed medical marijuana production as a farm use in the ALR which local governments can regulate, but not prohibit.

In the second half of 2014, the governments of Canada and British Columbia invested approximately $7.2 million to support business development, innovation, food safety, and sustainability in B.C.'s agriculture industry.

A task group including 11 leading British Columbia wine producers has been established with an industry mandate to make recommendations on ways to improve the appellation system for wine produced from 100% B.C. grapes, Agriculture Minister Norm Letnick announced.

The B.C. government's new Fish and Seafood Act will replace legislation that was last significantly updated in the 1960s with a modern framework that builds on B.C.'s local and international reputation as a source of sustainable and trusted seafood legislation, and improves operating conditions for B.C.'s seafood sector.
