Government has introduced legislation to enable courts to accept electronic wills and to permit the remote witnessing of wills.

The B.C. government has introduced Bill 20, the Motor Vehicle Amendment Act (No.2), 2020, legislation that will, if passed, offer policy flexibility around the use of the decal on B.C. licence plates.

Government has introduced the COVID-19 Related Measures Act, legislation that will allow for the provisions created for citizens and businesses in response to the pandemic to be formalized and unwound as appropriate after the provincial state of emergency ends.

Government is continuing to support cannabis workers and provide greater flexibility in the legal non-medical cannabis industry.

The Province has approved a temporary wholesale pricing model that will allow liquor licensees to purchase beer, wine and spirits at reduced cost.

The Province is providing temporary relief to hospitality licensees who have had to suspend their operations as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

An order-in-council published Monday, June 1, 2020, will repeal and replace the provincial court family rules and improve how British Columbia families can resolve their legal issues in family court.

Working with the judiciary and other justice and public safety-sector stakeholders, government is moving to safely support increased in-person hearings.

Government has taken action to support the province’s hospitality sector by temporarily authorizing the expansion of service areas, such as patios, to support physical distancing requirements and industry recovery during the COVID-19 pandemic.
