Lisa Beare, Minister of Education and Child Care, has appointed Kevin Godden, former superintendent of the Abbotsford School District, as a special adviser to the Greater Victoria School District 61 to help the board of education revise and improve its previously submitted safety plan.

Ten communities will soon have more student spaces as part of the government’s actions to expand schools quicker.

Following discussions with the board of education and local police departments, the Minister of Education and Child Care has issued an administrative directive for an updated student safety plan in School District No. 61 (Greater Victoria).

More Métis families will benefit from increased access to culturally based child care with more than 200 new child care spaces opening or on the way.

Dozens of families will benefit from new culturally relevant child care spaces through the Aboriginal Head Start (AHS) program.

Starting on Oct. 1, 2024, applications will be accepted from child care providers to join the $10 a Day ChildCareBC program, which will create more low-cost child care options for families throughout B.C.
