With most of the province experiencing above-normal drought conditions, the BC Wildfire Service is urging people to use caution and remain vigilant to prevent human-caused fires when enjoying the outdoors this weekend.

Drought and water scarcity continues to affect the west coast, south coast and northeastern areas of B.C. that have experienced little to no rainfall over the past five weeks with continued dry weather in the forecast.

 Katrine Conroy, Minister of Forests, has released the following statement to mark National Forest Week 2022:

British Columbians should remain alert to the threat of wildfires as conditions remain warm and dry throughout September.

Dry and hot conditions on British Columbia’s west coast have prompted the government to increase the drought level in the region to Level 3.

Katrine Conroy, Minister of Forests; Ravi Kahlon, Minister of Jobs, Economic Recovery and Innovation; and George Chow, Minister of State for Trade, have issued the following joint statement in response to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s final determination in its third administrative review regarding countervailing and anti-dumping duties applied to Canada’s softwood lumber exports to the United States:
