Regulations and policy manuals have been issued to further support local governments as they work in partnership with homebuilders to deliver more homes for people.

The Province, through BC Housing, has purchased a building with about 70 new temporary indoor shelter spaces for people experiencing homelessness in Victoria.

The Province, in partnership with the City of Victoria, is moving forward with four new supportive housing projects that will deliver up to 192 permanent homes with 24/7 support for people experiencing homelessness.

The Province and the City of Victoria have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that formalizes their commitment to work together to end current homeless encampments and help prevent encampments in the future.

A sufficient number of indoor spaces to support moving Victoria’s encampment residents inside have been secured through an ongoing partnership between the City of Victoria, the Province and BC Housing.

The Province has extended the lease of the Travelodge until Dec. 31, 2021, in order to ensure its residents are not displaced onto the street or nearby parks.

The Province, through BC Housing, has signed a lease with GSL Group that will allow the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre (SOFMC) to be used again for temporary housing beginning in March.
