Premier David Eby is leading a trade mission to Asia to grow B.C. businesses, create good jobs for British Columbians and strengthen the supply chains people depend on for goods and services.

Brenda Bailey, Minister of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation, has issued the following statement in recognition of B.C. Economic Development Week:

Early-stage life sciences businesses on Vancouver Island will have access to a new wet lab facility as they work to address global health-care challenges and create more in-demand jobs for British Columbians.

A more diverse technology sector is the result of a successful start to the Innovator Skills Initiative program, providing tech companies with funding to hire and develop talent, including those from under-represented groups.

People will be able to move into new homes faster as the Province invests in digital permitting and the construction industry to make the process quicker and more collaborative.

To continue building resilient communities and supporting people and businesses in rural British Columbia, more funding will be provided to regional economic trusts subject to legislative amendments being passed.

To attract investment and showcase B.C. mass timber to a global audience, Jagrup Brar, Minister of State for Trade, will lead a trade mission to the United States and attend the International Mass Timber Conference.

Hundreds of companies in B.C. will benefit from an extension of the Province’s Interactive Digital Media Tax Credit, which will reduce costs for technology businesses while growing the sector and supporting a stronger, more innovative economy for British Columbia.
