British Columbia's International Trade and Investment Representatives are hitting the road to continue their tour of communities and regions throughout the province.

International visitor arrivals' statistics are indicating strong growth in key tourism markets - figures that are especially welcome as Tourism BC shifts its marketing efforts to focus on B.C.'s upcoming ski season.

Myth 1 - It is no problem finding people who want to work in underground coal mines.

Small business is a huge economic driver in this province, employing over one million people. In fact, 98 per cent of all businesses in B.C. are small businesses, said Minister of State for Small Business Naomi Yamamoto.

The B.C. government has created over 3,000 seats for skills training in colleges and universities throughout the province with an $18.7-million investment.

Despite a volatile global market, the B.C. economy continued to create jobs, gaining 5,700 net new jobs in September. Since the release of 'Canada Starts Here: the BC Jobs Plan', B.C. has added 57,400 net new jobs, putting it first in the country for job creation.
