Selina Robinson, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, has released the following statement in response to the homeless campers at Goldstream Provincial Park:

People experiencing homelessness, including those who were living at the Regina Park encampment in Saanich, will have earlier access to safe shelter spaces in Victoria starting in October 2018.

Communities throughout the province were recognized for their climate leadership, and have been supported in taking further action, with over $7 million from the Climate Action Revenue Incentive Program.

Based on the B.C. Consumer Price Index and the formula for rent increases in British Columbia, the maximum annual allowable rent increase will be 4.5% in 2019.

The British Columbia Building and Plumbing Code (B.C. Building Code) has been updated to improve standards of accessibility and safety, and provide more options for wood-frame construction throughout B.C.

Building on the success of its Rapid Response to Homelessness program, the Government of British Columbia has launched the Building BC: Supportive Housing Fund.
