More than 1,700 students throughout British Columbia will get skills training thanks to $10 million provided to 16 B.C. public post-secondary institutions in April 2012 to prepare workers for jobs in their regions.

Students throughout British Columbia will have new opportunities for skills training, thanks to more than $1.7 million in one-time funding being provided to 10 B.C. public post-secondary institutions to prepare workers for jobs in their regions.

A tentative agreement has been reached between UBC and its Association of Administrative and Professional Staff under the 2012 mandate.

B.C. businesses will get their products to market more quickly, thanks to an innovative pilot program that will place graduate students from B.C.'s post secondary research institutions with established companies for job experience.

Two more agreements have been ratified at the University of Victoria under the Cooperative Gains Mandate with CUPE Local 4163 (Components I & II) and with the Professional Employees Association.

Aboriginal students who experience a short-term financial crisis will now have access to emergency financial relief while they are attending school.
