More than 135 people experiencing homelessness in the Greater Victoria area now have new homes with supports as three new projects open in the region.

Having received the report of the forensic investigation of BC Housing from the Office of the Comptroller General, the Minister of Housing has instructed the ministry to review the report and take the appropriate steps to release as much information to the public as the law permits.

More than $12 million in new funding for public safety and environment programs will support not-for-profit organizations that are helping make life better for people throughout B.C.

For the Growing Communities Fund, 85% of the total funds are allocated to municipalities and 15% go to regional districts. The allocation generally follows the population split between incorporated (urban/suburban) and unincorporated (rural) areas of the province and provides a slight boost to address the increased costs of servicing rural growth areas as they are constrained in their population base to raise servicing costs.

Local governments are receiving a $1-billion boost through one-time funding to address the needs of their growing communities.
