With the assistance of external experts, B.C. government staff continue to monitor the Chilcotin River landslide 24/7, conduct aerial survey flights and gather additional technical data.

Updated modelling of the landslide across the Chilcotin River provides an improved assessment of worst-case scenario risks to people and communities from a sudden failure of the landslide structure and associated flooding.     

As active monitoring continues at the site of the Chilcotin River landslide, the River Forecast Centre (RFC) has updated its forecast for potential flooding.

A coroner’s inquest into the death of Melvin Viggo Gary Erickson will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024, at the Burnaby Coroners’ Court (20th floor, 4720 Kingsway, Metrotower II, Metrotown, Burnaby).
