Three First Nations will receive almost $70,000 to develop clean energy projects that will benefit their communities.

Environment Minister Mary Polak has suspended the environmental assessment of the proposed Morrison copper-gold mine pending the outcome of the Independent Expert Engineering Investigation and Review Panel in relation to the tailings dam breach at the Mt. Polley mine.

Agriculture Minister Norm Letnick issued the following statement on the Agricultural Land Commission Act consultation:

The operator of the Mount Polley mine has been ordered by the Ministry of Environment to take immediate action to stop the further release of mine tailings into nearby waterways from the Aug. 4, 2014, impoundment facility dam breach, and to submit environmental impact assessments and clean-up action plans to the ministry.

Minister of Energy and Mines Bill Bennett made the following statement in response to the mine tailing pond incident at Mt. Polley Mine:

Environment Minister Mary Polak and Energy and Mines Minister Bill Bennett have issued an Environmental Assessment Certificate to Seabridge Gold Inc. for the KSM project, located approximately 65 km northwest of Stewart.
