Contractors that build and maintain British Columbia's transportation infrastructure have been honoured for their approach to service and innovation, while helping people and goods stay on the move.

Premier David Eby is celebrating employees in the public service who have made distinguished contributions to strengthen communities and improve people’s lives throughout British Columbia.

A significant fall storm is impacting Vancouver Island. Downed power lines, debris and fallen trees have resulted in multiple highway closures on the island.

People living in the coastal regions of British Columbia, as well as in Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and parts of the Interior, can expect stormy weather and strong winds starting Tuesday, Nov. 19 and extending through Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024.

People travelling over the Malahat soon will have a smoother, safer journey ahead, as paving improvements will start this weekend during the evening of Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024.

Communities throughout British Columbia are invited to make active transportation an even better option for people to get around.

It will be another busy long weekend on British Columbia highways and motorists are urged to stay alert and drive safely. 

The Province supported people through a record wildfire season and a global economic slowdown in 2023-24, while continuing to build the schools, hospitals and homes people need.
