This holiday season, British Columbians are encouraged to give themselves and their loved ones the gift of putting mental health first.

Mental-health and substance-use challenges and disorders can happen to anyone, affecting people of all ages, income levels, professions and social classes.

As part of the Province’s work to make sure British Columbians have access to high-quality primary care, 14 additional internationally trained physicians are beginning to practise in rural and remote communities in B.C. in February and March.

“Mitchel always made me feel like I was here to stay,” says Sophia. At the age of 11, she moved in with Mitchel. Before that, Sophia had been in several different foster homes and needed the long-term stability, consistency and unconditional care that are so essential in everyday life.
