People in B.C.’s rural communities are often the unsung heroes of our provincial economy.

As part of its rural development mandate, the Province is providing $673,124 in project development grants to support rural communities throughout B.C.

Between Jan. 18 and Feb. 28, 2019, people who own residential property in areas subject to the speculation and vacancy tax (SVT) will receive a letter with clear instructions for how to complete a declaration and register an exemption.

Leaders in health policy, community and economic development, and from First Nations are among the government’s latest appointees to the province’s health authority boards.

Claire Trevena, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, has announced the board of directors of B.C. Infrastructure Benefits Inc. (BCIB), the Crown corporation responsible for executing the Province’s Community Benefit Agreement (CBA).

The B.C. government has released a report that includes a wide range of draft recommendations on ways to reduce exposure to asbestos, to protect workers, homeowners, the public and the environment from the dangers of asbestos.

The Rental Housing Task Force has submitted its final report and recommendations to make B.C.’s rental housing system fairer by dealing with renovictions, making renting more secure, and improving enforcement of regulations and laws.

The first-ever provincewide homeless-count report shows that while B.C. has taken important first steps to house British Columbians, more work needs to be done to prevent and address homelessness in B.C. communities.
