Premier Christy Clark sent congratulations to Anne Docherty as the winner of the 2014 Council of the Federation Literacy Award for B.C. Ms. Docherty receives a medallion, a certificate, and $300.

The Province is providing $2.4 million to support adult literacy training programs in 90 communities throughout British Columbia this year.

An investment of $2.4 million by the provincial government is helping adult learners around the province improve their reading and writing skills by providing them with the help they need in their home communities.

Future health professionals in northwest B.C. will benefit from additional student spaces in the Health Care Assistant Program at the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology (NVIT).

They say reading is as easy as A, B, C, but some children continue to struggle with a skill that is vital to a healthy, successful future - and a new partnership will help improve early literacy skills in rural and remote communities.

From Vancouver Island to Haida Gwaii, adult learners throughout the province will get help to improve their literacy and numeracy skills, thanks to projects funded through the Community Adult Literacy Program.
