Minister of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations Steve Thomson concluded that transfer of the reservoir, watershed, park lands, and some of the other Crown lands identified in the Rose Valley area would not be in the public interest, and these lands would remain Crown land.

Repairs to the Westside Road overpass retaining walls are substantially complete and the interchange will reopen to traffic on Monday in time for the morning commute.

Work will begin this week on the final phase of repairs to the Westside Road Interchange retaining walls. Ledcor, the contractor for the Westside Road Interchange project, is starting the process to attach the finishing panels, and anticipates repairs will be complete by mid-March.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and Westbank First Nation are discussing lands other than those initially identified in the Bear Creek/Rose Valley area in exchange for lands required for the construction of the Westside Road Interchange.

Highway 97 at Westside Road will reopen to two lanes of traffic in each direction under the Westside Road structure at 2 a.m. Wednesday, in advance of the morning commute.

A section of concrete facing wall on the Westside Road Interchange gave way on Sunday morning, spilling dirt fill onto one of the southbound lanes of Highway 97 underneath the overpass.

The Westside Road Interchange project will reach an important milestone on Saturday, with the opening of the interchange structure to vehicle traffic and the deactivation of the traffic signals on Highway 97 at Nancee Way.
