The successful Safe Community Situation Table program is expanding in Willams Lake to use a collaborative, early intervention approach to address complex social challenges by delivering faster access to services for people at high risk of harm, victimization or committing crime to survive.

People who use transit in Williams Lake are seeing improved service as a result of increased hours and improved service reliability.

People living in the Williams Lake area will benefit from more access to team-based health care with a new urgent and primary care centre (UPCC) coming in early 2025.

Williams Lake First Nation, the Province of British Columbia and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to guide future investigative work at the former St. Joseph’s Mission Residential School site.

Work is underway for an updated and expanded Cariboo Memorial Hospital, which will improve access to care for people in Williams Lake and surrounding Cariboo-Chilcotin area, including the First Nations of the Secwépemc, Tŝ ilhqot’in and Dãkelh Dené.

To help grow B.C.’s value-added wood sector, the Province will support the establishment of a new mass-timber production facility that will create more than 70 jobs in Williams Lake.
