Since April 1, the Wildfire Management Branch has responded to 24 wildfires within the Cariboo Fire Centre that have burned about 500 hectares. All of these fires were human-caused and therefore preventable.

Effective at noon on April 27, 2015, Category 3 open burning will be prohibited by the Wildfire Management Branch throughout the Cariboo Fire Centre to help prevent the public.

The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations is planning a series of controlled burns near Chimney Lake and Felker Lake from March 17 to April 10, 2015, weather conditions permitting.

The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations advises that a series of prescribed burns is planned in several areas west and south of Williams Lake until Nov. 15, 2014, weather conditions permitting.
