The BC Wildfire Service is planning to conduct a series of controlled open burns north of Horse Lake to reduce wildfire threats around the Imperial Ranchettes neighbourhood and in the 100 Mile House Community Forest.

Helicopters will be used to minimize the spread of Douglas fir beetles on Pablo Mountain, starting as early as Friday, Feb. 22, 2019.

The Sugar Cane Development Corporation and the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association will receive $100,000 each under the special circumstances provision of the BC Rural Dividend.

A third year of helicopter logging operations in the Williams Lake area is expected to start this week to help minimize the spread of Douglas-fir beetles on Crown land.

Construction on Highway 97 from Williams Lake Indian Reserve No. 1 to Lexington Road will soon be concluding for the season, resulting in a speed limit increase from the current 50 km/h construction zone to 70 km/h.
