The Government of British Columbia recognizes the important role of newcomers to help build B.C.’s strong and sustainable economy.

The most recent BC Stats report (2016 data) shows jobs and wages in British Columbia’s technology sector have reached a new peak as B.C.’s tech and innovation industry continues to thrive.

Last week, Premier Christy Clark announced an agreement between the government of B.C. and Pacific NorthWest LNG that sets the stage for a potential US $36-billion investment in northern B.C., which could drive jobs and economic activity throughout the province.

These are exciting times in British Columbia; Our economy is diverse, strong and growing.

Part of our province's success has been our ability to introduce three consecutive balanced budgets -- and this year we will likely be the only province in Canada to do so.

Small businesses are the heart and soul of our province and unnecessary red tape costs them time and money. We want entrepreneurs to be able to focus on what matters - creating jobs and spurring innovation.

Our government has a plan - a plan to keep our economy growing and our province strong. Over the past year we've made progress implementing that plan - and achieving some of its goals.

British Columbia's tourism sector had a very successful year in 2014 as we welcomed visitors from around the globe.

We have a lot to celebrate in the Province and once again Small Business BC launched Small Business Month in style with Inspire, an event attended by B.C.'s top entrepreneurs.
