As temperatures dip, the Province is preparing for the increased demand for shelter spaces in Vancouver by implementing its winter shelter plan.

The B.C. government is providing $40,000 to allow the emergency weather response shelter at St. Hilda’s Anglican Church in Sechelt to remain open seven days a week.

The B.C. government will fund approximately 560 extreme weather shelter spaces across Metro Vancouver this winter to help those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness with access to a safe, warm place to stay at night.

The B.C. government will fund approximately 145 extreme weather shelter spaces across Greater Victoria this winter to help those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness with access to a safe, warm place to stay at night.

The B.C. government will provide approximately $1.6 million this winter to make additional shelter spaces available in about 100 communities to help those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness with access to a safe, warm place to stay at night.

People in need of shelter in Vancouver will have access to additional shelter beds during the cold and wet winter months.
