Foster parents and others who support vulnerable children and youth will soon have more assistance with monthly costs, with an increase to payments that help cover food, clothing and transportation costs for children and youth in their care. 

The families of children and youth with physical disabilities and other complex care needs will receive more help to pay for the medical equipment they need to live at home through a $10-million funding increase to medical equipment benefits under the At Home Program.

More parents in the Thompson, Cariboo and Shuswap regions will be able to return to work, go back to school or pursue other opportunities as the Province invests in more than 140 new licensed child care spaces.

More parents on central Vancouver Island will have the option to return to work, go back to school or pursue other opportunities as the Province invests in more than 380 new licensed child care spaces, 98 of which are expected to open by the end of the year.

More parents in Prince George will be able to return to work, go back to school or pursue other opportunities as the Province invests in more than 180 new licensed child care spaces, over 75 of which are expected to open by September 2021.

Families in Langley will have access to more than 140 new licensed child care spaces as part of the Province’s ongoing commitment to increasing access to child care through the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
