The BC Wildfire Service, in partnership with the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development, is planning to conduct a 63-hectare prescribed burn approximately seven kilometres north of Midway in the Centre Hill/Ingram Creek area.  

The BC Wildfire Service has amended an area restriction order that is in effect for the Syringa Complex wildfires in the Southeast Fire Centre.

All area restriction orders that were in effect in the Prince George Fire Centre have been rescinded.

Doug Donaldson, Minister of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development, has issued the following statement in recognition of National Forest Week, Sept. 23 to 29, 2018:

Effective at noon on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, Category 3 open fires will again be allowed throughout the Cariboo Fire Centre’s jurisdiction due to weather conditions and a decreased wildfire risk in the region.

The 100 Mile Nordic Ski Society will be able to make upgrades to existing ski trails, thanks to a $388,375 grant from the Province.

Community Futures Boundary will be able to conduct a business plan to support the development of a resiliency centre/gathering place for the region, thanks to a $100,000 grant from the Province.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, all area restriction orders that are in effect in the Northwest Fire Centre will be rescinded.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, open burning will be allowed throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, including the use of fireworks, sky lanterns, burn barrels, burn cages, binary exploding targets and tiki torches.

The Barkerville Heritage Trust will be able to provide on-site housing to seasonal Barkerville Historic Town and Park staff, thanks to a $500,000 grant from the Province.
