Scott Fraser, Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, has issued the following statement regarding the Wiggus Table with Wet’suwet’en Hereditary Chiefs related to the Coastal GasLink pipeline project:

Two Indigenous communities in central B.C. have signed an agreement with the Province in support of the recently approved Blackwater Gold Mine within their shared territories. 

The Tŝilhqot’in Nation and Taseko Mines are working with the B.C. government to reach a resolution to the long-standing conflict over the proposed New Prosperity gold-copper mine project southwest of Williams Lake.

MUSQUEAM, SQUAMISH AND TSLEIL-WAUTUTH TERRITORIES/VANCOUVER - Scott Fraser, Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, Regional Chief Terry Teegee of the BC Assembly of First Nations, Robert Phillips of the First Nations Summit and Grand Chief Stewart Phillip of the Union of BC Indian Chiefs have issued the following statement on the final day of the B.C. Cabinet and First Nations Leaders’ Gathering:

Nadleh Whut'en First Nation is currently building six new homes in its community west of Prince George, supported by funds shared as part of the Province’s gaming revenue-sharing commitment.

Legislation introduced Oct. 24, 2019, by the provincial government will move the Province forward with a clear action plan for reconciliation, supporting predictability and economic opportunities, while respecting Indigenous human rights.
