Local governments are receiving a $1-billion boost through one-time funding to address the needs of their growing communities.

The Province and the City of Victoria have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that formalizes their commitment to work together to end current homeless encampments and help prevent encampments in the future.

Building on other recovery funding, the Province is boosting local economies by investing $30 million in small-scale infrastructure projects throughout B.C. to create jobs and support recovery for people and communities affected by COVID-19.

Non-profits are receiving more than $11 million from B.C.’s Community Gaming Grants to boost conservation and public safety programs that will benefit British Columbians around the province. 

The Province is accepting applications from local governments, Indigenous communities and not-for-profit organizations for nearly $136 million in infrastructure grants to help communities develop resilience in response to COVID-19.

Renters will be able to receive their security and pet deposits back in a fair and timely manner, thanks to changes made by the Government of B.C.

New affordable townhomes for single mothers and their children are now open in New Westminster, thanks to funding from the Province and support from the City of New Westminster.

Twenty-seven new affordable homes are now available for moderate- to middle-income families and individuals with the opening of a new rental apartment building in Nanaimo.
