Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone released the following statement on Metro Vancouver’s position on the George Massey Tunnel:

Residents in Metro Vancouver know two things: we need more housing supply and more transit.

Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development Peter Fassbender was joined by Ron McKinnon, MP for Coquitlam-Port Coquitlam, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and TransLink board chair Don Rose to announce that the Evergreen station plazas will be built over the summer and to give a sneak peek tour of Inlet Centre Station in Port Moody.

It’s another victory for B.C. as the province hosts a new international sporting tournament, the HSBC Women’s World Rugby Sevens Series. The women’s series is one of a number of world-renowned sporting events that are attracting visitors and keeping British Columbia in the global spotlight.

Government is taking action to ensure that everyone who holds a BC Bus Pass will continue to have access to public transit systems across the province now that TransLink is closing its fare gates.

The Government of British Columbia has released the report summarizing Phase 3 of consultations on the George Massey Tunnel Replacement Project, confirming strong public support for capacity improvements to address congestion, the proposed interchange improvements, and the transit, cycling and pedestrian measures to encourage greener  transportation choices.

Progress on the Evergreen Project continues as construction of the station plaza areas begins this spring.
