On the surface, Tianna Richards has it all—a growing career as a doula, beginning her education in the midwifery program at the University of British Columbia, a great social life and community roots.

Premier Christy Clark, MLA for Westside-Kelowna,  joined the community to celebrate the launch of Foundry Kelowna, a new integrated youth-service centre.

Growing up as a foster child motivated Ashley to help others in similar situations. She is passionate about improving the lives of kids in government care and wants to be a social worker.

Health Minister Terry Lake was joined by community leaders, residents and Northern Health physicians and staff for the grand opening of the new Haida Gwaii Hospital and Health Centre - Xaayda Gwaay Ngaaysdll Naay.

“Mitchel always made me feel like I was here to stay,” says Sophia. At the age of 11, she moved in with Mitchel. Before that, Sophia had been in several different foster homes and needed the long-term stability, consistency and unconditional care that are so essential in everyday life.

In front of friends, family and a room full of distinguished guests, 16 exceptional civic leaders were recognized at Government House with the Province’s highest honour, the Order of British Columbia.

The Province and partners collectively will be investing more than $7.5 million to support youth who are at risk of substance-use and mental-health concerns with the launch of a new, Integrated Youth Services Initiative.

The Provincial Health Services Authority and BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) to design and build a new facility to support those living with complex mental health and substance use issues on the Riverview lands.
