The BC Lake Stewardship Society (BCLSS) has been awarded a one-time $75,000 provincial grant to support its lake monitoring program, which contributes to the effective environmental stewardship of B.C.'s water resources and ensures the collection of high-quality lake-monitoring data.

Following on a commitment to crack down on invasive species, such as the snakehead fish, the B.C. government has released a series of policy intentions for public comment.

Targeted funding from Canada and B.C. supported business development, innovation, food safety and sustainability under the Growing Forward Agreement in the third quarter of 2011-12.

The B.C. government worked closely with the Invasive Species Council of B.C., provincial and federal agencies, and international partners to respond decisively to a threat of invasive zebra and quagga mussels at Shuswap Lake this month.

In January 2012, Premier Christy Clark increased the annual base budget for gaming grants by $15 million to $135 million per year into the future and expanded eligibility to include environmental organizations, as well as adult sport and arts organizations.
