Culvert replacement and other repairs are slated to begin later this summer for Highway 29, south of Chetwynd at Zonnebeke Creek.

With Okanagan Lake having receded to a safe level as of July 29, the 90-day deadline for residents who may have been impacted by the flooding that began May 4 to apply for Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) has been set as Oct. 27, 2017.

Now that the Okanagan region is recovering from high water levels and spring flooding, provincial government staff are available to support local governments, businesses and residents in their recovery efforts.

Floodwaters and groundwater in many places in the Central Interior are expected to continue to rise, and the threat may not be over for some time.

Following recent flooding events earlier this month and with the potential for more seasonal flooding in communities surrounding the Okanagan Lake in the coming weeks due to increased snowmelt and forecasted warmer weather, Emergency Management BC asks that residents in the area take precautions to ensure personal safety.
