Transporters of liquid petroleum products in British Columbia now will need to have provincial plans in place to manage a spill.

Effective at 5 p.m. (Pacific time) on Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, Category 2 and Category 3 open fires will again be allowed throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, due to a decreased wildfire risk in the region.

Effective at noon on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, Category 2 and Category 3 open fires will once again be allowed throughout the Cariboo Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, due to a decreased wildfire risk in the region.

The Government of British Columbia is providing $25,000 to conserve historic coal mine structures in Morden Colliery Historic Provincial Park near Nanaimo.

Effective at noon on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, campfires will once again be allowed throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre, Southeast Fire Centre and Cariboo Fire Centre. A return to more seasonal weather conditions and recent precipitation has reduced the wildfire risk in these areas.
