Children and families throughout B.C. will continue to benefit from innovative literacy programs in their community thanks to a provincial investment of $500,000 to support this year’s Raise-a-Reader campaign.

Due to recent changes in the weather and fire behaviour, the area restriction currently in effect around the White River and Quinn Creek wildfires will be rescinded at noon Pacific Time on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017.

Effective immediately, areas beyond 50 metres of developed portions of Kikomun Creek Provincial Park and Premier Lake Provincial Park are closed to the public.

In the interest of public safety, the Regional District of East Kootenay has implemented a full evacuation order for the Moyie Lake area.  

Effective at noon Pacific time today, Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, all Crown land within the Rocky Mountain Natural Resource District is closed to public access due to the continued extreme fire danger rating, the number of unprecedented aggressive wildfires throughout the region and moderate winds forecasted over the next few days.
