The Province, the District of North Vancouver and RainCity Housing and Support Society are working together to bring a new supportive housing project to the community for women and their families.

The Province is investing nearly $1 million to help another 26 communities assess and report on local housing needs, so governments can ensure they deliver homes for people in B.C. while recognizing the uniqueness of each community. 

British Columbians are encouraged to read their favourite book, head outside for some fresh air, play their favourite games and connect with family virtually while growing their literacy skills and celebrating Family Literacy Week 2021.

People in 29 communities throughout the province will benefit from capital project funding for the health and social services sector, search and rescue operations, and arts and recreation facilities, through Community Gaming Grants.

People in need of a warm, safe place to stay during the winter months will soon have access to additional temporary shelter spaces in Kelowna, thanks to a partnership between the Province and Turning Points Collaborative Society.

More children and youth will benefit from strengthened mental health and substance use services and support programs as community-based projects receive capital project funding this year through the Community Gaming Grants program.

More people in need will soon benefit from meals prepared in new kitchens and expanded food distribution, as local community organizations receive funding from the Community Gaming Grants program.

A $6.25-million emergency department redevelopment will support improvements to patient care and privacy at West Coast General Hospital.

People with low to moderate incomes, including families, seniors and people with disabilities, are moving into 80 new affordable rental homes, with the opening of Phase 2 of the Oak Park redevelopment in Langford.
