The following individuals have been awarded The King Charles III Coronation Medal as part of the Government of British Columbia’s partner allotment.

The Province has confirmed the former Village of Queen Charlotte on Haida Gwaii will be officially recognized as the Village of Daajing Giids (daw-jean geeds), restoring its ancestral Haida name.

The Province, the Government of Canada, Coastal First Nations and Haida Nation are coming together to honour the passing of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and to celebrate the economic achievements unlocked through digital connectivity investments for coastal and island First Nations.  

The B.C. government and Coastal First Nations, an alliance of eight First Nations on the north and central coast and Haida Gwaii, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to continue and expand their work to protect the environment and boost the regional economy.

Students, teachers and staff at Gudangaay Tlaats'gaa Naay Secondary school in the Haida Gwaii school district will benefit from $220,000 in provincial School Enhancement Program funding.

Performing arts presenters throughout British Columbia are receiving $331,500 in grants to engage professional touring artists and enhance programming activity.

Effective at noon on Thursday, July 2, 2015, the existing campfire ban in the Coastal Fire Centre will be expanded to include all areas within the fire centrs's jurisdiction, with the exception of Haida Gwaii and the area known as the "Fog Zone".

Effective at noon on Saturday, June 27, 2015 within the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, campfires will only be allowed on northern Vancouver Island, the mid-coast portion of the mainland and on Haida Gwaii.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, Category 2 and Category 3 open fires will be prohibited throughout the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, with the exception of the “Fog Zone”.
