B.C.'s $8.6-billion mining industry has reason to celebrate Mining Week, May 13-19. Employment, revenue, exports, production and prices are all up over previous years and are in a position to continue rising.

B.C. is making it possible for caterers to obtain a liquor licence, enabling catering companies to fully meet the food and beverage needs of their clients.

The Province has approached the private sector with the opportunity to provide a more modernized and cost-effective way to warehouse and distribute liquor in British Columbia.

The Minister of Energy and Mines and Responsible for Housing, Rich Coleman, today appointed five members to the BC Housing Management Commission Board.

The Province today introduced Bill 32, the Energy and Water Efficiency Act, to help reduce consumers' energy bills and lower operating costs for B.C. businesses.

As a result of federal and provincial investments, a new program, the Affordable Rental Housing initiative (ARHi), will soon be available in the Columbia Basin region for households in need. Columbia Basin Trust (CBT) has also partnered with the Province in this initiative to deliver essential affordable rental housing.

The Province has levied the first-ever administrative penalty under the Residential Tenancy Act against a Surrey landlord who failed to maintain his rental property despite a number of orders from the Residential Tenancy Branch.

The Province today introduced Bill 30, the Energy and Mines Statutes Amendment Act, 2012, to streamline and clarify regulations in four existing acts - the Oil and Gas Activities Act, the Utilities Commission Act, the Clean Energy Act and the Strata Property Act.

As part of its Natural Gas Strategy, the Province is providing up to $120 million in royalty credits to encourage oil and gas development in British Columbia.
