Up to 205 First Nations people in communities stretching from Prince George to Fort Nelson will benefit from new skills-training opportunities designed to spark careers in trades and technical jobs such as carpentry, piping, welding, carpentry, machining and electrical.

The Province is increasing funding for First Nations clean-energy projects by approximately $2.1 million over three years as part of its commitment to action on climate change.

A new skills training project will ensure more First Nations members can successfully pursue occupations as career-development practitioners and training-program co-ordinators.

Reducing barriers to job success and ensuring more First Nations members can access the skills training they need to acquire sustainable employment are the goals of a training project underway with the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation and McLeod Lake Indian Band.

The start of a new government-to-government relationship between the Province, the Carrier Sekani Tribal Council and seven Carrier Sekani First Nations will increase social and economic well-being for the First Nation communities.
