Residents of Port Renfrew and the Pacheedaht First Nation will receive increased capability for tsunami warnings and the potential to provide earthquake early warnings, thanks to a $550,000 contribution from the BC Disaster Mitigation Program to the Capital Regional District (CRD).

Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) is now available to eligible British Columbians in the Central Kootenay Regional District, the East Kootenay Regional District, Electoral Area A of the Kootenay Boundary Regional District, and the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (including municipalities within these areas) who may have been impacted from flooding that occurred between March 5 and April 10, 2017.

A landmark 10,000 BC Parks licence plates have been sold – a milestone reached less than eight weeks after the specialty plates were unveiled earlier this year.

Design is under way to widen and repave the portion of Admirals Road under provincial jurisdiction from Hallowell Road south to Maple Bank Road to improve access for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists to and from the adjacent communities.
