Motorists are being reminded to watch for traffic-control personnel, obey posted construction signs and adjust their travel speeds accordingly when crossing the Alex Fraser Bridge.

The next step to ensuring continued quality maintenance of British Columbia’s highways, roads and bridges is underway, with requests for proposals (RFPs) going out to tender this week for three of the Province’s 28 contracted service areas.

People in the Lower Mainland will soon experience reduced traffic delays thanks to six new motorist advisory signs that will be installed at key road and railway crossings in Langley, Surrey and the Township of Langley, as part of the Railway Crossing Information System project.

As New Year’s Eve approaches, the B.C. government is reminding party-goers who intend to use for-hire vehicles such as limousines and “party buses” to familiarize themselves with the laws and regulations that govern these vehicles, to plan ahead for a safe ride home. 

With snow in the Lower Mainland forecast in the coming days, maintenance crews remain on-site to monitor and clear provincial roads and bridges.

Tens of thousands of commuters will soon have some relief from congestion and will spend less time in traffic, thanks to a new moveable barrier system that will be installed on the Alex Fraser Bridge in fall 2018.

Maintenance crews and technicians are standing by to ensure provincial highways and bridges remain safe for travel as colder weather approaches the Lower Mainland.

In January 2018, the Province will begin a comprehensive review of the coastal ferry service in British Columbia to evaluate its performance in meeting the needs of ferry users and British Columbia’s coastal communities.
