Lisa Beare, Minister of Education and Child Care, and Rohini Arora, parliamentary secretary for child care, have released the following statement about the extension of the Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement with British Columbia:

More families in Kimberley will have access to affordable, quality child care with 148 new child care spaces opening soon at Marysville Elementary school.

Minister of Education and Child Care Lisa Beare has announced that government has appointed an official trustee to School District No. 61 (Greater Victoria) and relieved the trustees of their duties.

Families in Powell River have access to 28 new child care spaces opening at Kelly Creek Community school, including 12 spaces for children younger than three, and 16 spaces for children ages three to five.

Delta families are benefiting from 40 new child care spaces at the Boundary Bay Montessori school, bringing more spaces to the fast-growing communities of Delta and Ladner.

Lisa Beare, Minister of Education and Child Care, has appointed Kevin Godden, former superintendent of the Abbotsford School District, as a special adviser to the Greater Victoria School District 61 to help the board of education revise and improve its previously submitted safety plan.

Students and families of Queen Elizabeth Elementary will benefit from more classrooms with an addition now under construction.

Ten communities will soon have more student spaces as part of the government’s actions to expand schools quicker.
