Katrina Chen, Minister of State for Child Care, has released the following statement for Child Care Provider Appreciation Day in B.C.:

A new child care facility at Davie Jones Elementary school will provide dozens of families and children in and around Pitt Meadows with convenient child care on school grounds.

British Columbia has surpassed 30,500 new child care spaces funded since the launch of ChildCareBC in 2018, giving parents greater ability to pursue work, school and other opportunities while knowing their children are cared for.

More parents in the Kootenays will be able to pursue work, school and other opportunities while knowing their children are cared for as the Province invests in 45 new licensed child care spaces.

More parents in north Vancouver Island will be able to pursue work, school and other opportunities while knowing their children are cared for as the Province invests in more than 450 new licensed child care spaces.

Students and staff in Richmond can learn and work in seismically safer schools now that upgrades are complete at Maple Lane and F.A. Tomsett elementary schools. More seismic upgrades are also on the way, with work beginning at James Whiteside and William Bridge elementary schools.

More parents in northern B.C. will be able to pursue work, school and other opportunities while knowing their children are cared for as the Province invests in nearly 280 new licensed child care spaces.
