The provincial government’s Columbia River Treaty team will host a public virtual information session about the recent agreement-in-principle (AIP) reached between Canada and the United States to modernize the Columbia River Treaty.

Josie Osborne, Minister of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation, has released the following statement in response to the Office of the Auditor General’s final report on MNP’s administration of the Advanced Research and Commercialization program:

BC Hydro will construct approximately $360 million worth of capital projects in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody and the Village of Anmore over the next decade to upgrade and expand the electricity grid and provide clean power for homes, businesses, and growing electrification and transportation needs.

BC Hydro will build approximately $250 million worth of capital projects in Richmond over the next decade to upgrade and expand the electricity grid to provide clean power for homes, businesses and transportation.

BC Hydro will construct approximately $500-million worth of capital projects in the North Shore and Sea to Sky corridor over the next decade to upgrade and expand the electricity grid, and provide clean power for homes, businesses, and growing electrification and transportation needs.

To hear from people in Columbia Basin communities, engagement on the Columbia River Treaty agreement-in-principle will begin this summer.

BC Hydro will invest nearly $6 billion in capital projects across B.C.’s southern Interior over the next decade to expand the electricity grid, and upgrade its infrastructure to ensure a continued, reliable supply of clean power across the region.

The Province is contributing $2 million through its Innovative Clean Energy (ICE) fund to establish a battery innovation centre at the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan campus (UBCO).
