People visiting Juan de Fuca Park can soon enjoy more campsites, and new accessible washrooms and showers at China Beach Campground.

A temporary closure will take place at Pipi7íyekw/Joffre Lakes Park to provide time and space for members of the Líl̓wat Nation and N͛Quatqua to reconnect with the land and carry out cultural and spiritual practices.

The Juan de Fuca Marine Trail will remain closed throughout summer to repair extensive damage caused by multiple fall and winter storms, but people can still enjoy day-use areas in Juan de Fuca Park.

Jagrup Brar, Minister of Mining and Critical Minerals, and Tamara Davidson, Minister of Environment and Parks, have released the following statement regarding the approval for the Mt. Polley Mine to raise its tailings storage facility by four metres in advance of the spring freshet:

The ministers of Environment and Parks, Tamara Davidson, and Mining and Critical Minerals, Jagrup Brar, have issued a consent order to Mount Polley Mining Corp. to raise the tailings pond dam of the Mt. Polley Copper-Gold Mine by four metres.

Camping reservations will soon open for the entire Berg Lake Trail in Mount Robson Park, marking the return of hikers this summer to one of B.C.’s most popular backcountry hiking destinations.

People can now enjoy upgraded trails, more parking and easier access to two provincial parks in the Okanagan: Sun-Oka Beach Park near Summerland and Kalamalka Lake Park in Coldstream.

With storm repairs well underway, people will soon be able to start reserving campsites at Golden Ears Park.
