Families and individuals living in The Ryder apartment building in the District of Hope can remain in their rental homes.

More new homes for people will be approved faster as the Province works with partners to develop a new digital building permit tool.  

Ravi Kahlon, Minister of Housing, has released the following statement in recognition of Homelessness Action Week, Oct. 9-15, 2023:  

Women and children leaving violence in Valemount and the surrounding region now have safe new homes with the opening of Ada’s Place, a 14-unit women’s housing development.

Data taken from the latest provincewide homeless counts shows increased supports and services are needed to prevent and address homelessness in communities in British Columbia.

Vulnerable women, their children and families in Courtenay will soon have access to 48 new affordable rental homes as construction has started on a new development.

Families, seniors and individuals, including people living with HIV/AIDS, in Vancouver will soon have access to 154 new affordable rental homes as construction starts on a major new housing project.

The Province, through BC Housing, is working with local partners on a proposal to create new supportive and complex-care housing for people experiencing homelessness in North Vancouver.
