Facts about the Davie Village project
  • Funding provided for this project is as follows:
    • Approximately $27.8 million from the provincial government, through BC Housing, including approximately $17.33 million through the Building BC: Community Housing Fund and $10.47 million in Cost Pressure Grant funding.
    • Approximately $48.05 million in land value and in-kind contributions, from the City of Vancouver.
    • $15.4 million from the federal government, through the National Housing Co-Investment Fund (NHCF).
  • The Community Housing Fund (CHF) is a $3.3-billion investment to build more than 20,000 affordable rental homes for people with moderate and low incomes by 2031-32.
    • Approximately 9,000 of these homes are open or underway throughout the province.
    • Additional CHF proposal calls will be issued during the next four years to allocate funding for the remaining units.
       
  • The National Housing Co-Investment Fund (NHCF) is a $13.2 billion program under the National Housing Strategy (NHS) that gives priority to projects that help people who need it most, including women and children fleeing family violence, seniors, Indigenous peoples, people with disabilities, those with mental-health or addiction issues, veterans and young adults.
    • Budget 2022 advanced $2.9 billion in funding under the NHCF to accelerate the creation of as many as 4,300 new units and the repair as many as 17,800 units.
    • Canada’s National Housing Strategy is a 10-year, $82-plus billion plan that will give more Canadians a place to call home.
