Seniors, veterans and adults living with disabilities are moving into 88 new suites with the opening of the new Nigel House in Saanich.

Indigenous people in the Alberni Valley will have access to 35 new affordable rental homes as the Citaapi Mahtii housing development opens in Port Alberni.

Lax Kw’alaams Band members will have more affordable housing options with nearly 60 new homes opening or starting construction.

Yesterday, Rentals.ca released a report indicating that rental asking prices in British Columbia are down 8.5% over the past two years, and 5.5% in the past year alone. Vancouver led with largest drop in the country at 16.9% in the past two years and 8.2% in the past year. Vancouver is at a 41-month low and one bedrooms are down $500 a month since 2023.
