Sheila Malcolmson, Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, has released the following statement on International Overdose Awareness Day:

People in Nanaimo living with complex mental-health and substance-use challenges, and are at risk of homelessness, will benefit when the Province adds 30 complex-care housing spaces to serve the community.

More women affected by trauma will be able to access extended mental-health supports.

Sheila Malcolmson, Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, has released the following statement regarding the BC Coroners Service’s report on illicit drug toxicity deaths from January to June 2022:                                                                 

More people in Greater Victoria will have increased access to mental-health services designed to help them stabilize their lives. 

Young people in Kamloops, as well as surrounding areas, will have access to much-needed mental-health and substance-use supports at a new Foundry centre.

People living with substance-use challenges in B.C.'s Interior will have access to more treatment and recovery supports as the Province continues to invest in new services.

Indigenous families with children three to 12 who are experiencing big worries and fears will have access to free, culturally grounded wellness practices through a virtual parent and caregiver coaching program.

More people living with mental-health and addictions challenges in Greater Victoria will be able to access free local counselling services because of a new provincial investment.

Young people in Langley and surrounding areas will have access to new health, wellness and substance-use services, thanks to the opening of Foundry Langley, where they can get the supports they need.
