Nicholas Simons, Minister of Social Development and Poverty Reduction, and Dan Coulter, Parliamentary Secretary for Accessibility, have released the following statement about AccessAbility Week:

New provincial funding of nearly $5.3 million means more organizations can focus on creating projects that will make life better for people with developmental disabilities.

People who are vulnerable and and have low incomes will be supported with more than $440,000 in government funding for local poverty-reduction projects on Vancouver Island and in coastal communities.

People who are vulnerable and have low incomes will be supported with nearly $150,000 in government funding for local poverty-reduction projects in the Kootenays.

People who are vulnerable and have low incomes will be supported with $250,000 in provincial government funding for local poverty-reduction projects on the Lower Mainland.

People who are vulnerable and have low incomes will be supported with $100,000 in provincial government funding for local poverty-reduction projects in Prince George and Williams Lake.

People who are vulnerable and have low incomes will be supported with $200,000 in government funding for local poverty-reduction projects in southern Interior communities.
