Jennifer Whiteside, Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, has released the following statement regarding the BC Coroners Service report on illicit drug toxicity deaths in July:

For the 13th consecutive month, more than 190 British Columbians have lost their lives to the toxic, unregulated drug supply, according to preliminary data released by the BC Coroners Service.

New affordable rental homes for people with moderate and low incomes will soon be on the way as the Province is inviting non-profits, First Nations, municipalities and other organizations to submit proposals for the Building BC: Community Housing Fund (CHF).

The Province has issued an evacuation order for a specified area of the unincorporated Stikine region due to the Little Blue River Fire.

Mental health supports are available for people who have been and continue to be adversely affected by historic wildfires throughout B.C. this summer.

Highway 4 is on track to fully reopen to two-lane travel at Cameron Lake Bluffs before the Labour Day long weekend, after a successful day of rock scaling allowed crews to move toward stabilizing the bluffs.
